Since 1991, when a 9,000 mile bicycle trip (her guitar in tow) ended at the Kerrville Folk Festival, Brenda has played throughout Austin, San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country and toured the Midwest, CA, England and Ireland. She has opened for Austin Lounge Lizards, Sara Hickman, Kimmie Rhodes, Vance Gilbert, Michael Smith (to name a few), and Texas Hot Flash opened for The Charlie Daniels Band. Other than the occasional solo showcase, Brenda currently performs with Him & Her, a duo with her husband Michael D’Eath. Him & Her love to play house concerts, small theaters, festivals and any other listening rooms.
Music has been Brenda’s life. She has a Masters Degree in Music Education and Music Therapy. When not performing, Brenda teaches voice, piano and guitar at her studio in Blanco, Texas and has developed a line of Effortless Music Instruction products. She also teaches voice workshops at festivals and conferences.
“Brenda Freed, you need to know, is one of the best undiscovered singers around.”
Aaron Allan (Country Music Association Hall of Fame Texas Inductee, 2000; Humvie Legend Award, 1999)
“Your Smilin’ Inside CD is great! You have a beautiful voice! It seems to wrap itself around each note and makes it your own! Like no one has ever sung that note before! Yer blues really rock. I like yer jazz too!
Graham Warwick, Writer, Hill Country Happenings, Comfort, TX
