Short Him & Her Bio:
Him & Her is currently promoting “Him & Her Do Texas Women” (2018), the duo’s third album release. Him & Her is a bluesy, jazzy, folksy duo playing primarily original music, featuring singer-songwriter Brenda Freed on vocals, and guitar or piano and Michael D’Eath (“DEE-uth”) on diatonic or chromatic harmonica. Michael’s tasty harmonica and Brenda’s soulful & versatile voice delight house concert, theater and festival audiences. Him & Her performs as a trio with Jonathan Lee on lead guitar, or as a full band with percussion, bass and harmony vocals. Him & Her devotes their creative energies to performing, recording, songwriting, musical arrangement, and teaching, as well as having a good time with live audiences whether playing a club, house concert, small theater or festival.
After a career in music therapy, in 1990 Brenda pedaled a 9,000-mile bicycle tour from Iowa, ending in Texas in 1991 when she stumbled upon the Kerrville Folk Festival (KFF), which launched her career as a singer-songwriter. She released 4 solo albums and toured the Midwest, England & Ireland before joining Michael in 2001 to form Texas Hot Flash, which won a 2005 Austin Music Award, released 3 CDs, performed throughout Central Texas, Southern California, and the Midwest, where the group opened for the Charlie Daniels Band.
Michael moved from England to Texas as a teenager to pursue a career in high technology. Twenty years later, he picked up the harmonica and started performing with Brenda. Michael has studied chromatic and diatonic harmonica in a wide variety of styles with world class teachers and performers and is a first call session player and sideman. He also teaches harmonica privately and in groups.
In addition to being performing musicians, Brenda and Michael spend their time in other music-related endeavors: teaching workshops at festivals & conferences, teaching privately, selling Effortless Music Instruction materials, providing community service for youth, and leading non-profits.
Him & Her is available to perform as a duo, as the Him & Her Trio or as the Him & Her Band. Him & Her combine teaching (harmonica, voice and vocal harmony) and performance for festivals or other performance/workshop situations. Him & Her wants to play for YOU!
